Windshield: Must allow more than 70% of light in. Non-reflective tint with any darkness can be used on top 6 inches or AS-1 line.

Front Side: 70% VLT

Back Side: 70% VLT

Rear Window: Any Allowed

Medical Exemptions

New York allows medical exemptions for special tint for owner or habitual passenger. Requires statement from licensed physician for condition on commissioner's pre-approved list (e.g., albinism, lupus, porphyria, severe drug photosensitivity, etc.). Commissioner issues sticker for exempted vehicle.

Metallic or mirror-like appearance is restricted. Dual side mirrors are required if back side windows or rear window is tinted below 70% VLT. No colors of tint are explicitly banned. Film manufacturers are not required to certify film. Sticker required between the film & glass on each tinted window.
